The series is a sweeping and harrowing tale of one Korean familys journey through the Japanese occupation.

Warning: This post is filled with spoilers.

Minha Kim and Steven Sanghyun Noh in ‘Pachinko,’ Apple TV’s adaptation of Min Jin Lee’s bestselling …

How do you, from the pasts point of view, leave something indelible for the future?

Until hes asked to help, his role is mostly relegated to taking down meeting minutes.

They were also created entirely for Apple TV+.

When guards are called on her, she stabs herself with a knife.

Kazu later fires Solomon after using his connections.

She even moves to Japan with him and meets his clan.

Anna Sawai and Jimmi Simpson star as new characters Naomi and Tom Andrews in Apple TV’s Pachinko.

After that, they regularly meet in secret at the cove and develop a romance.

In the book, Hansu seems a little more cunning in his advances.

This goes on for three months before they become intimate.

Sunja’s grandson Solomon, played by Broadway star Jin Ha, gets a major bump on the Apple TV+ series …

She flies with her son Mozasu and enjoys reminiscing back home.

Thats not how it went down in the book, though.

In the book, none of this happens.

He doesnt even meet with the seller at all.

By Episode 5, Sunja learns that Yangjin drowned where they used to do laundry.

There, she reunites with Yangjin, whom Hansu also relocates to Japan.

After the war, they all return to Osaka, and Yangjin lives with her daughter until she passes.

He even bumps into his dads old friend.

That doesnt happen in the source material.

There, Isak witnesses Japanese soldiers humiliating Korean men and inspecting their belongings.

Its the moment in the series that ignites a radical spark in Isak.

The Japanese store owner catches him and discriminates against him because hes Korean.

The cops even arrest him.

Its only thanks to an unknown caller (likely Hansu) that hes let off the hook.

Its the incident that prompts Solomons dad to send him to the U.S.

This doesnt happen in the book, and Mozasu only sends Solomon to study abroad for better opportunities.

The historical earthquake isnt mentioned either.

But its his religion not his politics that gets him arrested in the book.

As the boys pastor, Isak is arrested along with him.

But their storylines are barely mentioned in the series.

Now that thePachinkohas been greenlit for another season, maybe theyll focus on that middle generation next.
