Now, at 41, hes got a new baby and a new competition show, too.
Could this be his chance to finally level up?
The Prince of Malibu has saved his house from wildfires a few times now.
I stayed here by myself, watering the house… he says, trailing off.
I learned a lot from that fire.
As we chat, Jenner, 41, melts into a cozy neutral lounge chair in his living room.
When the eternal chiller was approached with his latest reality TV project, though, he wasnt initially down.
This would be a great experience for me, he realized.
Just to see what its all about.
I was gifted in athletics, and Im very competitive.
He insists some of the courses are actually even harder and longer than they appear in the edit.
But there are no secret candy breaks or redos onSpecial Forces.
It is one take, he says, ostensibly still in disbelief.
Theres no Hey, can we pause?
Its also the name of the game, both in succeeding onSpecial Forcesand in the limelight more generally.
Jenner pauses, and for a beat looks nervous before collecting himself and replying confidently: Not completely…
I think Im always learning; thats one of the reasons why Im here.
My life just revolves around my daughter, he tells me.
I think you might work yourself to death.
Generally, Brodys style is just to roll with it.
It wasnt like we were getting any money from the Kardashians ever, he says.
Kendall and Kylie are my sisters.
We have the same last name, but we dont share a bank account.
According to Jenner, the perception that the show caused marital strife is why it was canned.
The rub, according to the producer: They had to make it organic.
The exposure of the show, Jenner thought, would surely catapult his music career into the mainstream.
But none of that wound up even making it on screen.
As opposed to just completely abandoning it.
He goes on: People are still like, Wait, you DJ?
Theres a lot of things that I can do.
If nothing else, his time onSpecial Forcesdoes prove that.
Theres also some skill, grit, and focus in the mix.
And now, a family, too.
Jenner responds with a level of resolve that sounds more kingly than princelike.
Malibu is home, he says, with that eerily calm affect.
Youre always going to rebuild.
The fire is not going to push me out of it.
