The fight for the Iron Throne will only get hotter.
From Episode 1, Rhaenyra was promised the Iron Throne.
Her father, King Viserys I (Paddy Considine) elected her as the heir to the Seven Kingdoms.
The clue came during the royal hunt when she encountered the white stag a symbol of royalty.
Eagle-eyed viewers may have noticed the stag symbol on her crown.
The shock sends a pregnant Rhaenyra into premature labor, resulting in the death of her newborn child.
How Does The Targaryen Civil War Happen In The Book?
During their marriage, she and Laenor would have three children, Jacaerys, Lucerys, and Joffrey.
After Laenor dies years later, Rhaenyra gets secretly married to Daemon.
Rhaenyra and Daemon take residence at Dragonstone and have two children, Aegon III and Viserys II.
They keep news of the kings death from Rhaenyra to allow time for Aegon II to be crowned first.
She also refuses an offer to be granted control of Dragonstone if she renounces her claim to the throne.
She eventually launches an assault on Kings Landing.
Though Aegon II and Alicent make a run at counterattack, Rhaenyra and Daemon prove to be too formidable.
The City Watch also turns on Alicent, giving their loyalty to Daemon who once presided over them.
The fall of Kings Landing lasts no longer than a day.
However, Rhaenyra grows crueler over time, raising taxes and carrying out executions daily.
Eventually, she is regarded as a female version of her ancestor king, Maegor the Cruel.
How Long Is Rhaenyra Queen?
With the war still going on, Rhaenyra started to lose trust and key supporters.
Her reign took a turn when the popular Helaena Targaryen takes her own life after being in captivity.
Rioters storm the dragon pits, leading to the death of Rhaenyras son Joffrey.
Overrun, Rhaenyra flees Kings Landing, still intent on finding Aegon II.
While heading to Dragonstone, Alfred betrays Rhaenyra by tipping off Aegon II, who ambushes her.
Ironically, Rhaenyras son would eventually succeed her younger brother and become King Aegon III.
