Vallow and Daybell were charged with first-degree murder in connection with the three deaths in May 2021.
The couplepleaded not guiltyand initiallyfaced the death penaltyif convicted, according to NBC News.
Despite an earlier ruling to the contrary, a judge deemed Vallowmentally competent to stand trialin April 2022.
